COUMADIN MONITORINGPreparation: None Your doctor may have placed you on a blood thinner known as Coumadin or Warfarin due to many conditions such as atrial fibrillation, or heart valve surgery. The Coumadin is important to keep blood clots from forming, which may lead to a stroke. Coumadin interacts with the proteins in your blood and the dose must be adjusted to keep levels appropriate and avoid clots or bleeding. The monitoring and dose adjustment can be done in our office using just a finger stick. Adjustments are made while you are still in the office. Follow-up appointments are made at this time as well. |
