DOBUTAMINE STRESS ECHOCARDIOGRAM
Test Preparation: Nothing to eat or drink after midnight the night
before the exam. Wear comfortable clothing.
Duration of Test: Two Hours.
This test combines an ultrasound on your heart with a pharmacologically (drug) induced stress test. If you are not able to exercise on treadmill, your doctor may order a Dobutamine stress test.
This echocardiogram is done after you've been given Dobutamine through an IV that has been started in your vein. Dobutamine increases your heart rate in the same way that exercise does.
